Welcome to Alaska's History Buffs, the congregation for those slightly obsessed with the past but slightly conflicted about modern technology. If you're the type who asks others about their favorite historical figure over small talk at parties, you just found your people. Together, we unravel the rich tapestry of Anchorage's quirky history—from the indigenous peoples to the pioneers who thought they were on a simple journey but most definitely weren't! Expect bizarre town tales, ghost stories, and a few 'oops' moments involving snowstorms. Bring your historical inaccuracies; we’ll get them sorted over coffee (or hot cocoa, depending on the frostbite risk). At each meetup, we celebrate the glory of yesteryears with themed trivia nights, reenactments that may make you cringe, and even occasional field trips to haunting locales—because history may be dead, but it doesn’t mean we can’t revive the fun of it! Join us to ensure the past isn’t forgotten… mostly because we can’t remember what happened yesterday!
