Salem, the heart of the Willamette Valley, deserves a foodie faction devoted to the ‘roots’ of our food chain—literally! Enter the Capital City Foragers Club, where the rule of thumb is: If it’s green and nearby, it’s on the menu! Whether we’re poking around in the local forests for mushrooms or clandestinely gathering edible weeds from urban alleys, our adventures are anything but conventional. This isn't your grandma’s garden club, unless she’s into brewing nettle tea and making charcuterie from roadkill (joking…or are we?). Armed with a cheeky grin and a canvas tote bag, we relish turning our foraged finds into culinary gold. We meet clandestinely, so look for hints in obscure Facebook posts or carrier pigeon messages. No mums the word, because we’re loud, proud, and probably munching on dandelions!
