Here in Iowa City, we pride ourselves on being home to some of the most riveting pastimes, like overanalyzing the significance of a historic corn silo or passionately arguing about which graveyard is the best for ghost sightings (because nothing screams fun like contemplating the afterlife on a Wednesday night). Every week, we’ll gather (preferably at a local brewery so we can drown our sorrows) to debate the merits of our town’s most trivial historical figures. Did you know Iowa City once had a mayor who wore flamboyant socks? We didn't think so. Our motto is, 'If it’s not about a long-dead individual from 100 years ago, we don’t care.' Participation is strictly limited to those who can quote at least one obscure fact from our local history book without rolling their eyes—bonus points if you can do it while sipping a craft IPA. Join us for enlightening conversations that probably won’t change the world, but at least make us feel superior for a moment.
