Let’s face it, taking a stroll in the fresh, unfiltered wilderness (read: local parks) is basically an adult version of hide-and-seek, but with fewer hiding spots and more stretching involved. Each week we explore the trails and parks of Smithtown, from the historic Sweetbriar Nature Center to the windswept shores of the Nissequogue River. Marvel at the local flora, attempt to identify which animal left that rather sizeable deposit on the path, and try to dodge the overenthusiastic joggers who think they own the trails. Let’s be real—nature can sometimes feel more like a reality TV show, complete with its unexpected plot twists.
