Named after Huntsville's historic Cotton Row district, The Cotton Row Butterfly Brigade flutters in reverent homage to both the city’s storied past and its natural beauty. Unearthing a lighter side of entomology, this whimsical cadre embraces a facetiously sincere dedication to butterfly conservation and capers. Members can be spotted flitting through the local gardens donning butterfly wings - a nod to the glory days of cotton commerce, which inadvertently paved the way for Huntsville’s current bloom. Activities range from butterfly ballet performances to meticulously charting the migratory patterns of the Monarch - all while debating whether their ancestors would have preferred a cotton gin or a butterfly net. It’s history, humor, and natural wonderment – all in one!
