Ahoy there! Welcome to the Southend Sea Shanty Society, where the only things that run deeper than the River Thames are our historical inaccuracies and our fondness for rum! This delightfully anachronistic ensemble gathers every Thursday at the ancient-sounding, yet suspiciously modern, 'Golden Jubilee' pub. Here, we bellow maritime ballads from the days when Jolly Rogers flew high and WiFi was but a whimsical dream. Our repertoire, as diverse as the fish in the Thames, is steeped in a rich tapestry of Southend's seafaring myths and dubious half-truths. Join us in our unholy wedlock of history and hilarity, as we navigate the murky waters of local lore and shamelessly rewrite the past with each melodious shout.
