The Museum of Art, Ehime, located within the grounds of Matsuyama Castle, is a hands-on art museum where you can see, create, and learn. It opened in 1998 and features a building that fits in with the castle's landscape. Inside, you will find a core collection of works by overseas artists such as Monet, Bonnard, and Cezanne, as well as works by renowned modern Japanese artists like Yukihiko Yasuda and Nakamura Tsune. Additionally, the museum houses approximately 12,000 pieces including works by local artists such as Hisui Sugiura, Masamu Yanase, Hitone Noma, Hiroshi Manabe, and Umetaro Azechi. The museum holds exhibitions that change 5-6 times a year, as well as various special exhibitions that allow visitors to experience diverse cultures from both Japan and abroad. The South Building of the art museum includes an atelier and a gallery for pieces by local amateur artists. The atelier provides facilities for printmaking, woodworking, dyeing, photography, and clay work.
