Not yet 42 years ago (1996), yet a long long time ago and certainly pre-pandemic, The Comedy Studio started in the attic of a Chinese restaurant. Through ups and downs, through different Camberville locations, the Studio has found a long term home in Harvard Square. The Comedy Studio remains Boston’s most unique stage for comedians and other artistic performers in an intimate and inclusive environment for theatrical lovers and performers. Winner of the “Best of Boston, Best Comedy Club” for three consecutive years by Boston Magazine. Now under new management, a key goal of the Studio is to be “where entertainers come home” when in Boston. This inevitably means being welcoming to one and all, an occasionally eclectic mix of attitudes and a space to experiment. Frank Smiley, senior producer of Conan said of The Comedy Studio, “I consider it the greatest comedy club on earth.” Come for the impromptu photobooth, stay because you’ve totally fallen in love with everything.
