The William Saroyan House Museum has been created in the home where Saroyan lived the last 17 years of his life & produced many noted works. This atypical museum uses technology & innovative displays to present the history, nature, & character of William Saroyan – a writer, musician, playwright, & painter; whose works have been on stage, screen, television, & radio, & who authored over 1,000 printed works. Visits to the museum are by appointment only. Oscar & Pulitzer Prize winner William Saroyan was born in Fresno, CA in 1908. He wrote his first short story at age 13 & gained world attention in 1934 with The Daring Young Man on the Flying Trapeze. The main gallery displays videos, over 400 photos & art work of Saroyan, & covers from many of his published works. He is portrayed in a hologram in a second hall where original audio recordings offer his advice and views. The Museum has created a digital archive which will be available to researchers and students.
